MONROE - Turner Hall is hosting two accordion events next week.

Tony Lovello, "the Liberace of Accordion" will make a first-time appearance at the Turner Hall of Monroe at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 17.

Known for lots of razzle-dazzle and electrifying arrangements of classic tunes like "All of Me," "Maleguena," "Peg o' My Heart," and "Twilight Time," Lovello has recorded more than 14 CDs and received five Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Early in his career, he toured with great names like Eddie Cantor, George Jessel, Kate Smith, Jimmy Durante, Debbie Reynolds, Arthur Godfrey and Frank Sinatra. After 31 years in the hotel business, Lovello has returned to touring and performing, becoming known as the "entertainer's entertainer."

Tickets are $10 in advance and are available through June 15 at the Turner Hall of Monroe or by calling 325-3461. Tickets at the door are $15.

The six-member, San Francisco-based "rock-cordion" group, Those Darn Accordions, will take the stage for the third year in a row at 7:30 p.m. June 19.

Performing vintage rock tunes and clever original songs, interspersed with humorous anecdotal commentary by bandleader Paul Rogers, the group's appearances include Milwaukee's Summerfest, Good Morning America, World News Now, and others across the country.

Advance tickets are $10 and are available through June 18 at the Turner Hall of Monroe or by calling 325-3461. Tickets at the door are $15.
