Frances Milburn, a resident of Watertown, is a retired elementary and middle school teacher, which included time on the Navajo Reservation and in England. She's taught writing and language arts, as well as science and social studies. In addition, she's developed curriculum in a variety of situations and won a state award for an innovative environmental program.

Milburn has published one book and has three more in the works, and has also published shorter pieces in newspaper (Milwaukee Journal) and magazine. Through the years, she's written more than 50 short stories and non-fiction pieces, attended writing workshops and started Writers on the Run, an active local writing group.



About the illustrator

A native of Amherst Junction, Liv Aanrud graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2001 and received her Master of Fine Arts from Rutgers University in 2011.

Her areas of art include illustration, abstract painting, metal design and fabric painting. She's had shows in New York City, upstate New York, Rutgers University and had a piece shown in Germany, as well as galleries around Wisconsin. She has also illustrated two books.

She currently lives in Los Angeles, teaching art and continuing to create and sell her work.
