MONROE - Dark skies, frequent lightning and heavy rains invaded the area early Thursday morning.
By 8 a.m., National Weather Service (NWS) maps showed Green and Lafayette counties relatively calm, while various flood warnings threatened counties to the west and north.
Green and Lafayette counties were under a tornado watch until it was lifted about 7:45 a.m.
The worst of the morning storms had made it through most of the area by 9 a.m.
No roads were closed for flooding in Green or Lafayette counties. But the Monroe Police Department received reports from citizens about deep water along Wisconsin 69 at Eighth Street and at 21st Street, and also at 18th Avenue and Sixth Street.
Alliant Energy reported no power problems Thursday morning.
Additional thunderstorms are possible this afternoon.
