BRODHEAD - BullWinkle's Coffee and More is for people in a hurry.
The coffee shop, located at Wisconsin 11 and County T on the east side of Brodhead, is a drive-through coffee shop for people on the go.
Karen and Jeff Williams opened the shop June 12.
"When I drive I like to have something besides soda to drink," Karen explained. "I like to drink coffee while I'm driving."
Karen has seen drive-through coffee shops before, but they're somewhat rare in the Midwest, she said.
She and her husband began to talk about the possibility of opening a shop near Brodhead to give motorists a place to stop for something to eat and drink as they travel.
Williams said they checked with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and found that on some days as many as 13,000 vehicles pass through the intersection.
She knew her shop could be a success.
BullWinkle's offer a wide selection of drinks for people who want coffee, tea, smoothies and Italian soda, made with their own carbonated water and flavors. The Williams offer 30 flavors, including root beer float.
BullWinkle's also offers Amish baked goods like cookies and sweet rolls.
The shop also has drinks made from soy milk for people who can't drink milk and drinks made from skim milk for anyone watching their weight.
Williams said the idea just seemed like a good one for her.
"I missed having a coffee shop in town," she said.
Some people pull up to the window and talk for a few minutes. Others are in a hurry. The shop has regulars who stop in while on their way to work or on their way home from work.
That's what makes it fun for Williams and her employees.
"We can talk to them if they have a few minutes," she said. "I think it's really convenient for people," Williams said.
