MONROE - Crews began Stage 3 construction this week by installing underground water main across the intersection of 2nd Avenue and 7th Street and ending at Honey Creek. Storm sewer crews also repaired an underground box culvert near Ruda Chevrolet/Toyota and installed storm sewer across 1st Avenue.

Sanitary sewer lining was performed during nighttime work and finished middle of the week. The lining of the sanitary sewer main went well without any major interruptions to service.

Storm sewer and water main installations will continue next week. Crews will install storm sewer along the north side of 8th Street working from 1st Avenue toward 4th Avenue West. Water main crews will work at 3rd Avenue early in the week and plan to complete the water main crossing under Honey Creek (in front of Farm and Fleet) by the end of the week.

The north side of 3rd Avenue will be temporarily closed Monday to complete the water connection and will reopen by 7 p.m. Please use alternate routes to access local businesses during this temporary side street closure. 8th Street will remain open next week with no nighttime closures anticipated.
