Construction on 8th Street continued this week with very warm temperatures. Crews completed Stage 1 concrete paving at the intersection of Wisconsin 69 while also focusing on completing curb and gutter, sidewalks and driveways near the east end. Storm sewer was installed from 4th Avenue to 5th Avenue and storm work was completed at 3rd Avenue. While concrete and storm sewer crews worked on the east half of the project, a restoration crew began placing topsoil in the terrace on the west half.
Next week will be another busy week for the project. Concrete crews will be working to complete all Stage 1 curb, sidewalk and driveway paving. All the stage 1 storm sewer should be installed by the end of the week with electricians working on installing conduit for the traffic signals. More curb and gutter and road base are planned from 3rd Avenue to 5th Avenue and crews should begin final grading operations in preparation for Stage 1 paving.
Stage 1 work should be completed in the next two weeks, leading us into Stage 2 of the project. You will begin to see new asphalt pavement, decorative stamped sidewalk, and changes to the traffic patterns. We will give additional updates over these next couple of weeks but ask that you continue to keep an eye out for workers and other vehicles as you travel through the construction zone.
Have a great week.
