BLANCHARD TOWNSHIP - An 8-year-old boy was struck and killed Friday afternoon, May 17 in a skid steer accident.
According to a report from the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office, the Lafayette County 911 Dispatch Center received a 911 call at 4:40 p.m. from a person in the 19000 block of Yellowstone Church Road reporting the accident.
Lafayette County Sheriff's deputies, Blanchardville Fire and Rescue and Argyle Ambulance all responded, and the child was pronounced dead at the scene by Lafayette County Chief Deputy Coroner Richard Ruf, the report said. An investigation indicated that a skid steer loader operated by an adult male was performing a backing maneuver when the boy was struck.
The names of those involved had not been released by Friday night, due to pending notification of family.
