MONROE - The search for a new assistant principal for Monroe High School continued Thursday as six semi-finalists intereviewed for the position.

The district received more than 80 applications for the position, Monroe Superintendent Larry Brown said. Those were screened last week, with six selected for an interview.

Brown said the applicants were interviewed Thursday by a team that includes MHS principal Mark Burandt, teachers, students and parents. After that process is done, finalists will be called back for an interview with the adminstrative team. Those are scheduled for next week.

"We'll go to board with recommendation after that," he said.

A new assistant principal is sought to replace Mike Bruckwicki, who will retire in June after 25 years on the job.

The assistant principal's primary duties include attendance, student discipline, leading the master scheduling process, the overall physical operation of the building and assisting the principal in teacher supervision and evaluation, Burandt said.
