BELMONT — Search warrants executed on two homes in Belmont resulted in the arrest of five people early Tuesday, Oct. 29, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.
Two additional people were referred to the Lafayette County District Attorney’s Office for charges. All seven are Belmont residents.
Beginning at 5:53 a.m., deputies worked with Belmont police, the Stateline Area Narcotics Task Force and the Richland, Iowa, Grant Counties Drug Task Force to search 121 S. Mound Ave. and 222 Wood St.
At the Mound Avenue residence, Dakota Soppe, 22, and McKenzie Schroeder, 17, were arrested on charges of possessing THC with the intent to deliver and possessing drug paraphernalia. Soppe was also arrested for a probation and parole violation.
Karen Womak, 42, Belmont, who was not home at the time, was referred for charges for maintaining a drug dwelling and possession of a Schedule II narcotic.
At the Wood Street residence, Cody Vondran, 25, and Faith Hoffman, 27, were arrested on charges of possessing methamphetamines with intent to deliver and possessing drug paraphernalia. Vondran was also arrested for a probation and parole violation.
A third person, Rebecca Riechers, 48, Belmont, was arrested on a charge of maintaining a drug dwelling. A fourth, Lynda Forbes, 63, Belmont, is being referred for a charge of possessing drug paraphernalia.
No evidence of a meth lab or meth cooking was found at either residence, only drug dealing or using, said Sheriff Reg Gill.
The five people taken into custody were transported to the Lafayette County Jail. Schroeder was booked and released. The remaining four stayed in jail pending court. The investigation is ongoing and further charges are possible.
