MONROE - The 3 Redneck Tenors will perform at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center, 1600 26th St.
These sidesplitting, trailer-park singin' sensations - Billy Bob, Billy Joe, and Billy Billee - come direct from the stages in Branson, Missouri and America's Got Talent in Las Vegas, and from apperances with Larry the Cable Guy on his show Only in America.
Hailing from Dallas, Texas, the 3 Redneck Tenors are a new breed in the "tenor genre." Their musical comedy, featuring classically trained veteran Broadway and opera artists Matthew Lord (Billy Billee), Blake Davidson (Billy Joe) and Jonathan Frugé (Billy Bob), is like Duck Dynasty goes to Carnegie Hall with down-home laughs and big-city music.
Written by Matthew Lord with music arranged by award-winning composer Craig Bohmler, the show combines the beauty of classic opera with the humorous antics of three rednecks. They have delighted audiences with their vocal prowess and a smorgasbord of songs and music ranging from gospel, country, Broadway, pop and classical, along with genre mash-ups like "Ave Maria Dixie," as well as songs that exemplify both ends of the spectrum, like "Viva Las Vegas," and "Nessun Dorma."
This musical comedy adventure details the Billys' rise to stardom. The story begins at the three tenors' humble abode in a Paris, Texas, trailer park. When the bumpkins are discovered by a shrewd city-slicker agent, they are torn from their backwoods roots and shepherded around several unorthodox venues, like bowling alleys, gun stores and a dusty gravel road. The show is a perfect mixture of humor and melodious harmonies, making a delightful evening of down-home family entertainment.
While their appearance might draw looks and laughs, underneath the rough exteriors are some of the country's most accomplished and talented opera singers. They have been asked to perform around the world and have mastered their craft, delivering unbelievable shows whether it is in the heart of the Midwest or on some of the world's most respected stages.
Recently the 3 Redneck Tenors have launched their own YouTube Channel starting with the first episode of "Cooking with the Rednecks and Donna Lou." Along with their mother-in-law, Donna Lou, the boys cook up some amazing southern favorites like chicken fried steak.
Reserved seat tickets for 3 Redneck Tenors are $50, $35, $25 and $20 and $10 for students 18 and younger. Tickets may be purchased in person at the box office located at 1315 11th St., by calling the Monroe Arts Center at 608-325-5700 or 888-596-1249, or online at www.monroeartscenter.com.
