MONROE - For the 28th consecutive year, the Monroe Arts Center will sponsor the Wisconsin Regional Arts Program Competition and Exhibit. All artwork submitted for competition will be on exhibit from April 17 through June 5 in Monroe Arts Center's Wesley Hall.

The event is co-sponsored by the Monroe Arts Center and the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Department of Liberal Studies and the Arts.

Artists can participate in the WRAP competitions and artist workshops held in various regions of Wisconsin throughout the year. The competition is open to all area non-professional artists over 14. Work must be original; no molds or patterns from another artist may be used. Up to two entries per artist are allowed and all media are accepted such as oil, acrylic, watercolor, photography, sculpture, fiber, metal, glass, wood, prints, pastel or digital.

All work must have been completed within the past two years, after January 2013.

MAC will hold an artist workshop day scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to noon June 6. A demonstration and/or lecture by professional artist Tom Kelly, Mineral Point, will be the focus of the workshop. Kelly will also serve as the judge for this competition.

Both state awards and honorable mention awards will be given out. State award winners selected from all 2015 WRAP competitions held throughout Wisconsin will be on display at the UW-Madison in September, at which time additional awards and prizes will be given.

The entry fee to compete, exhibit artwork, and attend the June 6 artist workshop is $20 per artist. Two pieces of artwork per artist are allowed. The entry form and the $20 registration fee are due at the Monroe Arts Center by 4 p.m. April 3. Artwork for the exhibit may only be delivered from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 10 or April 11.
