26 grants go to area nonprofits

MONROE -There were 26 grants awarded to non-profit organizations serving the needs of the Monroe area. The grants were awarded from Monroe Fund, Reasa Charitable Fund, Dr. Fred W. and Alice J. Kundert Charitable Fund, Jane Lysaght Memorial Fund, Reasa Historic Preservation Fund, Robert B. Olson Investment Fund for Monroe High School and The Thomas F. Campion Charitable Fund and The ARC/LEO Fund.

The 2014 Grants Reception was held in the courtroom on the top floor of the Green County Courthouse. Refreshments were provided by Colony Brands and Culligan Water Conditioning.

The Clifford and Dorothy Reasa Charitable Fund was awarded to Village of Browntown for Park Project Phase II; Pleasant View Nursing Home for garden expansion; Monroe Clinic for parish nurse program; Everyone Needs a Home for pet food pantry; Noah's Ark Preschool and Childcare for playground improvements; and Rainbow Childcare for curriculum updates.

The Clifford and Dorothy Reasa Fund for Historic Preservation was awarded to Green County Historical Society for restoration of floors and staircase; National Historic Cheesemaking Center for interior facility painting; Turner Hall of Monroe for northside exterior surface restoration; and the Monroe Arts Center for period lighting for church lower level.

The Dr. Fred W. and Alice J. Kundert Charitable Fund was awarded to Monroe Clinic for the parish nurse program and Jacob's SWAG for suicide prevention and awareness project.

The Jane Lysaght Memorial Fund was awarded to Fowler Memorial Free Dental Clinic for general support.

The Robert B. Olson Investment Fund for Monroe High School was awarded to Jacob's SWAG for suicide prevention and awareness project and Monroe High School for Financial Literacy Challenge Bowl.

The Monroe Fund was awarded to Village of Browntown for Park Project Phase II; school district of Monroe for School to Home book voucher program; Monroe Fire Department for Merit Center/Grain Bin; Green County Human Services for home delivered meals; Green County Family YMCA for technology upgrade; Family Promise of Green County for transportation needs; Green County Human Services for respite care; St. Victor School for high/touch classroom; Big Brothers/Big Sisters for bus sponsor for school-based mentoring Bugles, Bayonets and Beyond; Monroe Arts Center for performances in the schools program; and Main Street Monroe for Garden of Eating.

The Thomas F. Campion Charitable Fund was awarded to Monroe Park and Rec for special needs basketball and tennis lessons; Easter Seals for Camp Waubeek camperships; Big Brothers/Big Sisters for bus sponsor for school-based mentoring; Wisconsin Badger Camp for Campership; and Jacob's SWAG for suicide prevention and awareness project.

The ARC/LEO Fund was awarded to Monroe Park and Rec for special needs playground program and special needs swimming program.
