20-year-old Monroe man crashes, cited for DUI

DARLINGTON - An underage Monroe man was cited for operating while intoxicated following a rollover crash in rural Argyle just after midnight on Thanksgiving that injured him and his passenger, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department.

Vincent J. Buholzer, 20, and his passenger Turner J. Beernink, 21, Argyle, were taken by ambulance to Monroe Clinic and later transferred to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies responded to a report of the crash at 12:28 a.m. Thursday.

Buholzer was driving a 2009 Ford Focus northbound on County N when he lost control on a turn. The car went off the road, rolled several times and hit a tree before coming to a rest. It was severely damaged and towed.

In addition to the OWI citation, Buholzer was cited for failure to keep a vehicle under control, underage drinking, transporting intoxicants in a motor vehicle as an underage person, having open intoxicants in the vehicle and not wearing a seatbelt.

Beernink was cited for open intoxicants and not wearing a seatbelt.

Argyle EMS and the Argyle Fire Department assisted at the crash scene.
