ALBANY - The winners of the Albany school board election Tuesday were determined Thursday after nearly 500 write-in votes were cast for two open seats.

No candidates were on the ballot for the school board, but voters wrote in four different candidate names.

Valerie Johnson, who was co-president of the Albany Parent Teacher Organization in 2015, received 166 votes, while childcare provider Carrie Anderson received 156.

The remaining candidates, Rebecca Mather and Brian Beck, received 61 and 46 votes, respectively.
