MONROE - Two area men were arrested in separate incidents over the weekend for their fourth offenses of driving drunk, according to the Green County Sheriff's Department.
James W. Burchard, 55, Brodhead, was arrested following a two-vehicle accident at about 9:15 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Wisconsin 11 and Wis. 104 in the Town of Decatur.
He failed to stop his truck at a stop sign and hit a vehicle driven by David K. Gallmann, 53, Evansville. No injuries were reported from the crash.
Burchard was jailed on a fourth-offense charge of operating while under the influence of alcohol. He was also cited for driving with a revoked license and failing to stop at a stop sign.
This is Burchard's third charge just this year of fourth-offense drunken driving. He was arrested in Rock County on Feb. 28 and again April 1 and has pleaded not guilty in both still-pending cases.
Christopher S. Long, 44, Woodford, was arrested early Saturday on a fourth-offense charge of OWI from alcohol.
The arrest came after Green County deputies investigated a traffic complaint at 12:48 a.m. about a vehicle in the N3800 block of Wis. 81 in the Town of Monroe.
Long was jailed pending court. Court records show he was convicted of his third OWI in 2011 in Lafayette County and sentenced to 21 days in jail and 18 months on probation, plus had his license revoked two years.
A fourth-offense OWI is a Class H felony in Wisconsin, punishable by up to six years in the prison system and a $10,000 fine.
