MONROE - Sales of T-shirts in memorial of three Monroe High School students killed in a car crash in February raised more than $15,000 for the victims' families.

The memorial shirts were initially made to be given to MHS students as a way to remember their classmates. They soon became popular in the community and were sold throughout February to help raise money for the families of Monroe High School sophomores Gage Noble, Anya Teasdale and Joseph Wyss, who were killed in the Feb. 10 car crash.

Monroe High School principal Chris Medenwaldt said the shirts, which featured the victims' initials enclosing the Monroe "M" in a heart with "#cheesemakerSTRONG" on the back, were successful in Monroe and beyond. Some online orders coming from thousands of miles away.

The T-shirts were also popular with visiting basketball teams and fans, who offered support to Monroe students and community members after the accident.

"When we played against Milton in basketball, their entire team and their parents were wearing the shirts," Medenwaldt said.

The shirts were printed by Monroe printing company Heartland Graphics and were made at cost, with all proceeds going to a memorial fund for the victims' families. Medenwaldt thanked Heart-land Graphics' owner, Tracy Hamilton, for his generosity.

"It really speaks to our community coming together," Medenwaldt said.
