MONROE - Deputies apprehended a 13-year-old girl who stole a car from Dubuque, Iowa, and drove it to Monroe on Friday.
The girl had stolen the vehicle from relatives in Dubuque and drove it more than 52 miles before Green County deputies and Monroe Police stopped the vehicle in Monroe.
The vehicle was returned to its owner and the girl was returned to her parents. Iowa authorities will conduct further investigations.
The destination or hometown of the child is currently unknown, according to the Green County Sheriff's Office.
