MONROE – Green County’s race for the Branch One Circuit Court Judge came to an end with Faun Marie Phillipson narrowly edging out opponent Jane Bucher in the April 6 election.
According to the County’s unofficial results at 100% reporting, Phillipson ended the night with 4,142 votes, a mere 85 more than Bucher. Write-in candidates receives 268 votes.
Incumbent judge Tom Vale ran unopposed in the Branch Two race.
At the state level, Jill Underly of Blanchardville, who has served as the Superintendent at the Pecatonica School District for the last six years, won the race for state superintendent. Underly resigned from her position at Pecatonica due to her running and the district has since announced Kathleen Coppenbarger, Danielle Scott and Amy Vesperman as finalists for the position.
Underly received 5,364 votes in Green County. Opponent Deborah Kerr received 2,927. In the state, Underly collected 526,000 votes to Kerr’s 386,053.
Monroe, New Glarus and Darlington all passed school district referendums, while Black Hawk’s referendum failed.
