Green County launches ‘Protect Our Herd’ campaign
protect our herd public health

GREEN COUNTY — This week is the launch of the “Protect Our Herd Green County” COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

Organizations across the county have recognized the importance of the COVID-19 vaccine in the community’s return to normalcy, and have come together to coordinate this campaign. The campaign will underscore the importance of getting vaccinated, educate on the vaccine, and will highlight some friendly faces from the community who tell their COVID-19 vaccine story. It is important that as many Green County residents as possible get vaccinated so that herd immunity can be achieved.

“Herd immunity” occurs when enough people become immune to a disease, making it unlikely that disease will spread. This happens through previous infection or vaccination. Since immunity after previous infection does not last for very long after having had COVID-19, and developing COVID-19 can cause serious illness or even death, vaccination is a much safer and more effective way to build herd immunity.

“This campaign comes at a really important time. It’s so important for everyone in Green County to get the protection that the COVID-19 vaccine provides,” said RoAnn Warden, Green County Public Health Director/Officer. “It has never been easier to get the COVID-19 vaccine which will protect you and our community from this serious disease.”

Protect Our Herd Green County resources are now available on the Green County Public Health website. These resources were developed under the guidance of public health experts. These resources include social media graphics, campaign posters, information on where people can get vaccinated and more. Community members can utilize these resources, and share their own vaccination picture online using the hashtag #HerdImmunityGreenCounty.

While public health experts and frontline workers are working hard to coordinate vaccination efforts and administer vaccines, employers and community organizations can help by promoting vaccination. They all want to get back to their Wisconsin way of life, and getting vaccinated will help get there.

They encourage the community to frequently monitor the Green County Public Health Facebook page and Green County Public Health website.GREEN COUNTY — This week is the launch of the “Protect Our Herd Green County” COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
