MONROE — The Parks and Recreation Department is holding a “Stay at Home Spread Easter Kindness” community activity.
This project is to encourage acts of kindness during this Easter season. Several donations were made for the Easter Basket Benefit originally scheduled for April 4. Since that event was canceled, the donations will be used for spreading Easter fun and kindness in the community.
Parks and Rec will post a picture of a goodie basket on their Facebook page and encourage a particular act of kindness to win that basket. Participants will be asked to post a picture of their act of kindness and their name will be put into a drawing to win.
Some examples that will accompany the baskets may be: sidewalk chalk a message to your neighbors, write a thank you card to the mailperson, make an Easter door hanger for a nursing home resident, tell your homeschool teacher three nice things today, send a thank you card to a medical person, purchase take-out from a local business and more.
Each day, there will be a post of a basket from different businesses with a suggested act of kindness. At the end of the week, the names will be in a drawing and the winners will be announced.
The following businesses have donated baskets: Cheese Days, Culvers, Dairy Queen, Jimmy John’s, Luecke’s Diamond Center, Maple Leaf Cheese, Subway, Toy Haus, Papa Murphy’s, Walmart, Wisconsin Cheese Group, Wisconsin Dells attractions and Woodford State Bank.
