In this photo is the Fred and Mary Schultz farm and general store, circa 1905. Located along today’s Badger State Trail, four miles southwest of Monticello. The store was a meeting point for farmers in the general area of Dutch Hollow and vicinity. It was a post office, shipping and passenger station for the Illinois Central railroad and a general store selling staple groceries, nails, etc. More information can be found on the web site Slideshow of “Schultz, Wisconsin” and the publications page in “Rudy’s Hill” and “Just Folks Yarns and Legends” by Dr. Manuel C. Elmer. Visit monticellohistoricalsociety.org.
