The interior of Sam Grenzow’s grocery store, circa 1930. Sam and his wife Margaret quit farming in 1925 and purchased the Monticello grocery business, probably from Carroll and Bontly who had a grocery at this same location. He retired and turned the store over to his son George in 1945.

The young clerk is Warren Murphy who graduated from Monticello High School in 1932. This Main Street store eventually became George Grenzow’s shoe store and today is occupied by Total Look beauty salon.
