Robert H. Anderegg is a retired American small forward/shooting guard in the National Basketball Association and the American Basketball League. He played professionally for the New York Knicks and the Hawaii Chiefs.

Anderegg was born in Monroe and attended Monroe High School Class of 1955. He played college basketball for Michigan State University. The 6-foot, 3-inch guard-forward was selected by the New York Knicks in the third round (22nd pick overall) of the 1959 NBA Draft. Anderegg played for the New York Knicks for 33 games in the 1959-60 NBA season. He played six games for the Hawaii Chiefs in the 1962-1962 AFL season before retiring in 1962.

In 2008, Anderegg was inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame as a player.

Note: In the 1954 high school season, after scoring 474 points, Bob was named to the Badger Conference first team as a center along with Edgerton’s Marty Deignan (later an MHS teacher) as guard.

Many in Monroe may not know of this native’s success on the basketball court. This plaque, right, is located at the Michigan State University’s Breslin Center in their Hall of Fame. If anyone has memories of Bob or a copy of this collector card, contact Linda Lostetter at lostetter68@gmail.com, call me at 608-325-9730 or drop me a note at P.O.
