This barn raising was at the corner of Hoosier Road and Mt. Hope Road in the Town of Spring Grove, eight miles south of Brodhead. 

It is thought to have been built when the farm was owned by Lincoln Allen; an 1891 plat book has him as the farm owner. The farm was later owned by Chas. Koepp and Gordy Helland. Based on the records available it is estimated the picture was taken in the early 1900s. The barn no longer exists.
