The Chalet of the Golden Fleece photo supplied by the New Glarus Historical Society

The Chalet of the Golden Fleece has always been a bright spot for the holidays in New Glarus. Swiss immigrant and architect Jacob Rieder designed the home with features traditionally found in the canton of Bern, Switzerland and it was built for Edwin Barlow in 1937. Today the Chalet is in the Wisconsin State and National Register of Historic Places as an outstanding example of an authentic Swiss chalet.
