While December is typically reserved for celebrating the holidays, the couples depicted in this Schroeder Studios photo are all celebrating their 50th anniversaries at a reception held in New Glarus in December 1950. Pictured from left to right are: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Steussy and Mr. and Mrs. John L. Streiff married in a double wedding on 12/18/1900, Mr. and Mr. Jacob B. Hoesly married on 12/20/1900, Mrs. and Mr. Albert Nesheim also married on 12/20/1900 and Mrs. and Mr. Herman Becker married on 12/6/1900. All the couples resided in New Glarus, with the exception of the Nesheims who lived in Mt. Horeb. The photo and newspaper clipping about this milestone event are found in the archives of the New Glarus Historical Society.
