Children of Henry Erza Babler (1880-1960) and Rose Zimmerman Babler (1888-1933) of rural Monticello circa 1920. Left to right: Bernice (1908-2001), Harris (1916-2011) and Willis (1909-1996). In 1880, Henry E. Babler’s father, Henry Lincoln Babler, bought the rural property in section 18 of Mt. Pleasant Township from a land speculator. Henry Ezra was 22 years old when he started renting the farm from his father. He purchased the farm in 1915 after the death of his father, Henry Lincoln. Henry Ezra and Rose Zimmerman Babler married in 1907 and built the brick farm house (in the background) in 1917. Willis Babler, eldest son of Henry E. and Rose, bought the family farm in 1949 and owned it until 1982.
