This hay field is pictured on the south-east edge of the village of Monticello, circa 1918. This may have been part of the Blasius Elmer farm or the Pierce Bros. Farm. In either case the “hay cocks” were carefully piled and covered with small, weighted tarps to protect from rain and wind until they were collected into a larger stack or hauled to a barn.
