Green County has long been recognized for its wealth of singing talent. Esther Streiff Stauffacher, pictured at right, a founding member of the Green County and New Glarus Historical Societies, along with her sister, Dora Streiff Ott were a popular singing duo in the 1920s and 1930s. They sang at weddings, funerals, the movie theatre and must have been in great demand, because they even appeared at the Evansville Fair on Dora’s wedding day in August 1926, before she departed on her honeymoon trip. Original photo was taken by E.D. Frautschy of Monroe.
