Brody Schindler, 9, talks about his best friend Spike, a 6-month-old hedgehog.
Schindler got Spike as an early Christmas present from his parents Sarah and Dan. He wanted a hedgehog after seeing Mr. Pokee, a hedgehog on popular social media site Instagram who has over 1.3 million followers.

Describe Spike’s personality.
He’s very loyal. He loves me, but he does not like Dad at all. He sleeps a lot and eats a lot (of cat food). He runs in his wheel all night long. He likes dark and small places. He doesn’t like water or bath time. He likes to snuggle in my neck.
What do you and Spike like to do together?
We like to play and walk around the house. We watch a lot of TV together.
What has it been like having Spike in your life?
He’s teaching me responsibility. I have to make sure I give him food and water every day. I enjoy spending time with him. He always wants to snuggle and he tickles my neck.
