MONROE - Silas Setterstrom, Caitlynn Kamps, Mark Jenson, and Ellis Erb from Monroe participated in the Knights of Columbus State Knowledge contest held at Assumption High School in Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday, March 27.
The contest brought together the first- and second-place winners from each of the five Diocesan Contests in Wisconsin. Fifth through eighth grade students participated in either math or spelling. At the state level only the top 10 students were eligible at each grade level and subject.
In the Knights of Columbus State Math Knowledge contest Silas Setterstrom, son of Deb and Mark Setterstrom, earned first place in the fifth grade math competition while Mark Jenson, son of Todd and Ramona Jenson, placed third in the eighth grade math competition.
This was Setterstrom's first year competing as the competition begins at fifth grade. This was Jenson's fourth and final trip to state competition as the competition ends at eighth grade.
During his sixth grade competition he placed second in the state.
