Young prof. of the year named

MONROE - The Young Professionals of Green County spent Thursday evening celebrating "Green" initiatives in Green County with a recognition event on April 26at the Monroe Country Club in Monroe, WI. Stefanie Culberson, owner/operator of The Goose Chaser Farm, was recognized as the 2011 Outstanding Young Professional of the Year.

Stefanie is a exemplary individual who is best known for her sustainable, cage-free farm in rural Green County. The Goose Chaser Farm provides all-natural pork and poultry products. Stefanie is also a part-time instructor at Blackhawk Technical College, a chef, and a food stylist. She was recently invited to Boston University as a keynote speaker to discuss sustainable food styling techniques.

In addition to this, she has been a guest chef and instructor at several area food events, such as the "Stirring the Pot" series and Meals of Hope. She also is a board member of the Monroe Farmers Market. The most important thing is Stefanie's life is her family, she has two boys, whom she takes to all of her events. Colony Brands, Inc. was recognized as the First annual YP Business of the Year. Their dedication to the future of our community and their commitment to bringing young professionals into their workforce made them the perfect candidate for this award.

The 2011 Outstanding Young Professional of the Year award was sponsored by Orchid Monroe LLC, and the Monroe Country Club. "The event is our way of showcasing the exemplary accomplishments and service of young professionals in Green County and providing a means for YPs to meet each other" says Ryan Ziltner, of Hedeman Real Estate who is a director on the board and serves as Event Coordinator for the organization.

A total of 14 nominations were received for the award this year including Don Wickstrum, Julie Ula, Wesley Banks, Luis Carus, Anita Lawver, Nikki Matley, Jodi McIntyre, Julie Mills, Matt Rohloff, Melisa Schmidt-Kjerstad, Matthew Smith, Hickory Daniels, and Ryan Ziltner.

YP of GC was founded in 2007 with the first Outstanding Young Professional of the Year Award that was given to Charlie Baumann, of The Swiss Colony, Inc.
