MONROE -Lukas Wymer, a member of the Clarence Bridge Pioneers 4-H Club and a senior at Brodhead High School, was named the Green County 4-H Crowley Leadership Award winner for the 2012-13 4-H year.
Rachel Gilson, member of the York 4-H Club and a senior at New Glarus High School, was named runner-up.
As county winners, Wymer and Gilson will compete for state-level awards, including a chance at two $500 scholarships awarded for continuing dairy education. The state competition will consist of interviews conducted during the Wisconsin State Fair in August.
Wymer is the son of Jeff and Valerie Wymer, and is a 13-year member of the Clarence Bridge Pioneers 4-H club. He was selected for his outstanding accomplishments in his school and community along with his outstanding accomplishments relating to the dairy industry. Wymer plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee this fall.
Gilson, daughter of Bob and Cindy Gilson, Monticello, is also a 13-year member of 4-H and very active in many dairy activities and organizations both locally and statewide. She participated in a wide variety of 4-H projects and is also currently serving as the New Glarus Dairy Queen. Gilson plans to attend college this fall at UW-Platteville to pursue a degree in dairy science or agri-marketing.
The James W. Crowley Dairy Management and Extension Fund sponsor the 4-H dairy award program.
