APPLE RIVER, Ill. - The churches in Apple River will be hosting a World Day of Prayer at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 1 at the First Presbyterian Church of Apple River, 210 W. Baldwin St.

World Day of Prayer is an ecumenical celebration of informed prayer and prayerful action.

Prayer services will be written by the Women of France. The theme will be "I was a stranger and you welcomed me."

The event is open to the public.
