WIOTA — Woodford State Bank announced a $5,000 donation to the Wiota Fire Department to support vital electrical upgrades at Wiota Recreation Park, a cherished community gathering space that has served Lafayette County residents for over 75 years.

Home to the Wiota Home Talent baseball team and host to countless youth games, family reunions, and the beloved Fourth of July Celebration, the park’s original electrical system, dating back to 1969, is overdue for safety and modernization. The total cost of the replacement project is estimated at $28,000.

“As a truly local bank, we’re always looking for ways to support the communities we call home,” said Scott DeNure, President and CEO of Woodford State Bank. “Wiota Recreation Park is more than a park, it’s a place where families, athletes, and neighbors connect. We’re honored to help preserve and enhance this important space for generations to come.”

Woodford State Bank joins other local supporters, including the Wiota Fire Department and Town of Wiota, who have already committed funding toward the project. The upgrades will ensure safe and reliable use of restrooms, shelter lighting, and other park amenities for all visitors.
