Monroe Clinic Family Birth & Women’s Center nurse Deb Wolff, BS, RN, was recently awarded the Lifetime DAISY Award.

MONROE — Deb Wolff, BS, RN, a nurse in Monroe Clinic’s Family Birth & Women’s Center from Warren, Illinois, was recently awarded the Lifetime DAISY Award. She has been a bedside nurse for 40 years and her passion for the profession, patients and families that she is privileged to serve has never wavered.

Criteria for the Lifetime DAISY Award is centered on a nurse’s career, innovation for achieving exceptional outcomes, leadership within their team, embodying the organization’s mission, more than 25 years of service and having previously received a DAISY Award, which Wolff received in 2014.

Wolff’s award nomination was written by Vicki Coffey, Director of Women Services at Monroe Clinic: “Deb is truly the most compassionate nurse I have ever worked with. Not only does she care deeply for her patients and families, she shows the same concern for her colleagues,” Vicki wrote in her nomination. “There is something special that sets her apart from others, but Wolff would say ‘I’m just doing my job.’”

She continuously challenges herself and others in the department to practice their profession to the highest level. She maintains national certifications in Electronic Fetal Monitoring, Maternal-Newborn Nursing and Inpatient Obstetric Nursing.

Wolff lives the mission of Monroe Clinic and demonstrates it on a regular basis. She is active in volunteering for Meals on Wheels, Highway Trash Pick-Up and her local food bank. Wolff is also the chair of the Departmental Council which focuses on process improvement and assists in the coordination of the annual memorial service for those experiencing a prenatal loss.

The DAISY Award is a national initiative to honor nurses for the extraordinary care they provide to patients and families every day. Wolff will also be honored at the SSM Health Nursing Symposium held this October in St. Louis, Missouri.

Monroe Clinic asks the community to help spotlight the extraordinary contributions of nurses, like Wolff, by nominating them for the DAISY Award. Nomination forms are available at any Monroe Clinic location and online at www.monroeclinic.org/daisy.
