NEW GLARUS - Once considered to be extinct in Wisconsin, wolves have made a recovery in this state. Lisa Lemke from the Timber Wolf Alliance will present a program and slide show about wolf biology, social relationships and the role of wolves at 7 p.m. Saturday, at New Glarus Woods State Park.

Her program is geared toward educating and entertaining all ages about Wisconsin's wolf habits and characteristics.

The Timber Wolf Alliance was founded in 1987 to provide support for wolf recovery in the Upper Great Lakes region. The mission of TWA is to use education to promote and maintain a viable population of wolves in the western Great Lakes region with a special emphasis on Michigan and Wisconsin.

This free event is hosted by the Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park, a non-profit group that helps promote awareness of the New Glarus woods, educates all ages about nature and assists in making the Woods an exceptional environment for nature and visitors. The group welcomes new members. More information is available by contacting Dunnell Kendrick-Parker, the president of the Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park at (608) 527-2335, or e-mail info@newglaruswoods.org.

Parking in the State Park requires either a daily admission sticker or an annual Wisconsin Park sticker. Now is a good time to purchase a 2010 Wisconsin State Park sticker for $25 (over age 65, $10) because it can be used in all Wisconsin state parks, forests and recreation areas for the remainder of the year. http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/parks/fees/#stickers.
