MONROE — Volunteers are needed in Monroe for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program sponsored by American Association of Retired Persons. VITA provides free income tax assistance by preparing income tax returns for low to moderate income, disabled and elderly persons.
Volunteers should be comfortable working on a computer. Some income tax knowledge is helpful, but not necessary. Volunteers are required to attend free program training. Computers and software are provided. Training dates are Jan. 9 and Jan. 16 in Monroe and Jan. 25 in Dodgeville. The tax preparation season is every Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. beginning Feb. 6 until April 10.
