Four members of the Albany United Methodist Church recently returned from a mission trip to Virginia. The group took many items the congregation had collected for a homeless facility in Virginia Beach. The mission event included working on a house for a homeless family as well as working on the church where meals and clothing are distributed to those in need. The mission trip stemmed from a challenge the Rev. Pat Soddy made in September of 2009 for members of the congregation to leave their shoes in worship for those in need. Shoes were left that Sunday as well as many items brought in the following week. So much was collected the church took some to Porch Light in Madison, some to Good Will in Janesville, and some to People In Need Ministries in Virginia Beach. Those attending this mission trip were Pat Soddy, Linda Weber, Dan Weber and Dave Pluss.

Dan Weber will share information on the trip during the community men's prayer breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at the Albany United Methodist Church. All men of the community are invited to this breakfast.
