Volunteers build shelter

SOUTH WAYNE - A new shelter house at the South Wayne Area Community Park was recently constructed by local volunteers.

Construction began on June 10 and was completed on July 22.

Two local builders, Todd Schiferl and Travis Hagen, donated equipment and time supervising a crew of more than 20 volunteers.

The 60' x 54' building includes a ceiling with recessed lighting. Ace Concrete, South Wayne, donated the labor for the cement floor and several local bricklayers, led by Curt Meier, laid decorative bricks around the 12 support beams. The shelter house will be used for the upcoming Red Cracker Music Fest on July 29 to 30, as well as other future events.
