MONTICELLO - Monticello has been featured in a children's book entitled "Life in a Farming Community" by CrabTree Publishing. In the book, Monticello is featured as a quintessential farming community. The book seeks to teach young readers about life not only on a farm but also in a small, rural community.
The Monticello Area Historical Society has purchased copies of this book, and they will be available for sale starting Saturday at the museum. The cost of the soft-cover books will be $10 and the profits from the book sales will go toward collection preservation and museum maintenance.
The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Richard Grahn, one of the photographers of the "Life in a Farming Community" book, will be signing the books from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Monticello museum.
The museum will be closed from July 17th to Oct. 1 due to Main Street construction. At that time, books can be purchased at the Monticello Bank or Village Hall.
