Venture Crew heads to campsite for meeting

MONROE - Venturing Crew 1812 invites area youth and parents to join them for an evening of outdoor games, food, a campfire and Scouting fun from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 8. They will be departing at 5 p.m. from Union Presbyterian Church, 2707 5th St., Monroe, to go to the Brodhead Boy Scout Troop's campsite, N3800 Park Road, Brodhead.

Venturing is a Boy Scouts of America program for young adults who have completed eighth grade up to 21 years of age. Crew 1812 currently includes Monroe and Brodhead members, but is open to anyone. The crew meets twice a month. Adult volunteers are there to supervise and provide guidance, but not to run the show. Recent and upcoming activities include: indoor climbing wall; snow tubing; Relay for Life; summer camp (Mississippi canoe trip, pistol/rifle marksmanship, geocaching, caving); horseback riding; archery; and swimming.
