Vargas earns bachelor's degree

Rianna L. Vargas of Petaluma, Calif., received a bachelor's degree with honors in deaf studies from California State University, Northridge.

She has been accepted into Gallaudet University and will be pursuing a master's degree in mental health counseling and will specialize in counseling those who are deaf or hard of hearing.

She also has obtained a bachelor's degree in communicative disorders from San Diego State University and an associate's degree in sign language interpreting from American River College.

Vargas is a former Monroe High School student. She is the daughter of Nancy Vargas and Richard Bracco, and the granddaughter of Dorothy Wicklund of St. Germain.
