BROWNTOWN - University of Wisconsin-Madison alumni and friends will celebrate Founders' Day from 5 to 8 p.m. May 3 at Hawk's Mill Winery, W8170 Pilz Road. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m.
Founders' Day commemorates the first day of classes held at the University of Wisconsin: Feb. 5, 1849. As part of that event, the Wisconsin Alumni Association and the WAA's Green County Chapter will present the Badger of the Year Award to John Baumann, class of 1982.
Baumann is the president and chief executive officer at Colony Brands. He started at the company, then called Swiss Colony, as a high school student in 1976. After earning his bachelor's degree at UW-Madison, he went on to receive his master's degree at Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management. Baumann has been with the company his entire career, beginning in 1986. He was named president in May 1996.
Attendees will enjoy a special presentation, "Veterinary Medicine: Improving Not Only Animal Health but Human Health as Well," by Mark Markel, dean of the UW School of Veterinary Medicine.
The celebration is sponsored by the Green County Chapter of the WAA. To learn more about this event, visit uwalumni.com/event/greencounty-founders-day.
