The Friends In Faith Ministry of the Monroe United Methodist Church will be joining the Timber Lake Playhouse for their 50th Anniversary season when we travel to Mount Carol, Ill., to see a professional summer stock production of "The Spitfire Grill" on Wed. Aug. 17.
The group will see a matinee performance of this musical about "coming home." A stop will be made in Pearl City, Ill., where we will enjoy lunch at the historic Yellow Creek Inn.
All are welcome to attend and should contact the church by calling 325-6700 no later than Aug. 3. Leave a name and phone number as well as the number of tickets to reserve.
Additional information can also be obtained by contacting the church. The carpool will be leaving from the church, 2227 4th Street, 11 a.m.., stop for lunch and then continue on to the performance.
The cost of each ticket is $18 paid in advance to the church office.
The critically acclaimed play has been hailed as "Sheer nourishment for the soul" by the New York Times.
Set in the small rural town of Gilead, Wis., a young woman with a mysterious past has arrived to take a job waitressing in the local café.
The town's people don't exactly roll out the welcome wagon, but by working together through laughs and struggles, they help each other rediscover the joys they'd lost and find that their roots run deeper than they'd ever imagined.
