MONROE - Turner Hall of Monroe's Swiss Heritage Series is sponsoring a fun and informative antiques and collectibles appraisal event called "Trinket or Treasure? II" from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 20 in the Turner Hall Grand Hall.

Author and antiques expert, Mark F. Moran of Iola will be doing appraisals. Items acceptable for appraisal include fine art, furniture, ceramics, glassware, vintage photographs, advertising, folk art, assorted toys, metal ware, clocks and watches, costume jewelry, musical instruments, books and sports memorabilia. Excluded items not eligible for appraisal include all weapons, traps, Nazi memorabilia, money, Beanie Babies and fine jewelry, including precious gems. The appraisal opinions are informal, and may not be used for insurance purposes or charitable donations, which require a certified appraisal.

Advance registration is required for an item appraisal, with a limit of two items per person. Registrants will be assigned one of the 40 time slots available for each appraisal. There is a $15 per item fee for the general public; members of Turner Hall who are current on their 2016 dues may participate at no charge. Observers are welcome, at no charge, to observe any appraisals.

Registration forms are available at the Ratskeller Restaurant, 1217 17th Ave., Monroe, or online at http://turnerhallofmonroe.org/appraisal.html.

For those who have large, fragile or numerous items, Moran will be available while in Monroe to do in-house appraisals within 10 miles of Turner Hall for $75 per hour. He can be contacted directly at 715-281-5060 to make arrangements for house visits.
