Towne gets Ph.D in nursing

MONROE - Tracy Michelle Towne graduated from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University with a doctor of philosophy in nursing.

Towne is a 1994 graduate of Black Hawk High School and a 1998 graduate of Edgewood College. In 2003, she received her master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her doctorate in December 2014 with her Ph.D dissertation on diabetes.

The pinning and hooding ceremony was held May 15 at the Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, and the graduation ceremony was held May 16 at Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Traveling with Towne to attend the ceremony in Atlanta were her husband, Josh, and their children Emma, Ethan and Andrew; her parents; Josh's parents, Mert and Lynda Towne; and her uncle, John Gebhardt.

Towne currently is an assistant tenure track professor at Edgewood College in Madison and resides in Monroe.

Towne is the daughter of Rudy and Linda (Wyttenbach) Gebhardt and granddaughter of Virgil and Peggy Wyttenbach, Argyle.
