MONTICELLO - Marshall Bluff Bowhunters held their annual midwinter banquet on Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Monticello House Restaurant in Monticello. Twenty-eight people attended and enjoyed an evening of camaraderie and a celebration of the club's 52-year tradition of promoting Conservation, Field Archery, and hunting with the bow and arrow.
Dinner was followed by award presentations for the annual "Big Buck" and winner of the National Field Archery Association (NFAA) League. Photo presentations delivered by Paul Rieder covered the year in review and deer aging techniques.
This year's winner for the biggest buck, taken by a club member, was Ryan Indergand of Monroe. His 8-pointer netted 120 inches (130 gross). Ryan's name is engraved on the club trophy alongside those of (member) bow hunters going back nearly 40 years.
Brad Mau of Monticello was this year's winner of the NFAA (8-week) summer league. He averaged raw scores of 249 (of a possible 280 points) over the 14-target course with targets ranging from 10 feet to 80 yards. His to al (handicapped) score was 2,199.
Marshall Bluff Bowhunters is one of the Wisconsin's oldest archery clubs, and maintains a NFAA course; they conduct two to three archery tournaments each year that are open to the public.
