‘The Color Project’

Michael Reasa, Stephen Golubov, Nalani Kundert and Madeline Josephs stand in front of their painting which they’ve titled “Peaceful Morning.”  The artists used red tones exclusively and were trying for a calm looking landscape. They describe the music they wrote for the project as odd and unsettling.

Fifth grade students at Northside Elementary School in Monroe worked in small groups to create “The Color Project,” a collaboration of art and music.

Having learned that both color and music influence emotion, students created large scale landscapes based on a color or color scheme. In the music room, each group then composed an original piece of music based on one of the seven musical modes to represent and complement their painting.
