Since its founding, Alpha Delta Kappa has recognized and supported the professional efforts of over 125,000 women educators from around the world. This organization serves as a source of strength, inspiration and conviction to its members, students and communities in Monroe and internationally.

The Omicron fundraiser will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12 at the Monroe Pizza Hut. Pizza Hut will donate a portion of the profits from the all-you-can-eat buffet to the Monroe ADK Omicron Chapter.

Alpha Delta Kappa was founded in August of 1947 by Agnes Shipman Robertson, Marie Neal, Marion Southall and Hattie Poppino. They were visionary women who saw a need to recognize and support the professional efforts of outstanding women educators. This organization was created to give recognition to the individual teacher as well as to gain recognition for the entire teaching profession.

Alpha Delta Kappa continues to promote the highest standards of excellence in education through altruism and service to others.

From 2016 to 2018, members of ADK international have contributed almost $8 million to charities and scholarships and over 1 million hours of service in their communities.

In Monroe, the founding members of ADK Omicron chapter are: Ruth Amstutz, Esther Elmer, Dorothy Hartwig, Esther Falk, Hazel Huffman, Bernice Kingdon, Alice Livingston, Emmeline Lux, Frances Moritz, Anna Schneider, June Schuetze, Viva Stauffacher, Geraldine Weir and Marguerite Wenger.
